Corny jokes= “cold jokes” or “ill jokes” in Chinese!~

Why not question?

I have been in seeking for the right interpretation of “冷笑话” (which can be translated literally as “cool jokes” or “cold jokes” since they are considered that after hearing them people will feel “cold” because of their lack of logic and  causality) for a quite long time.

Recently I had a discussion about that with my roommate. After sharing several examples we finally reached a consensus. What is more interesting, she described the reaction or feeling after hearing that kind of jokes as “you can just roll your eyes!”

Still, I need to take more time in getting familiar with more corny jokes and even find out where this “corny” name comes from.
