 Language has a central role in human living. We spend a lot of our time talking and listening. Education constantly uses language. Television, radio, newspapers, and the Internet use language. Friendships are cemented and maintained through language. The Bible confirms the importance of language, as we are reminded through the narratives of God speaking creation into being, Adam naming the animals, and Jesus calling Lazarus out of the tomb.  The importance of our careful use of language is highlighted in the many scriptures where we are cautioned about our speech.
     One of the central purposes of language is to be a vehicle for personal communication and communion between God and human beings.  Thus human language is not merely for human beings.
